Practical notes

  1. Getting thereHurghada International serves the Red Sea coast, about 455 km from Cairo. Visas on arrival are sold at kiosks before immigration for 30 US dollars, cash only.
  2. Getting aroundArrange your transfer before you land, or book one with the eSIM once you are through customs.
  3. PayingThe SIM shops in arrivals take cash only. A shop line needs your passport, and the shop keeps a copy of your visa and entry stamp.
  4. When to goHurghada averages highs of 22 °C in January and 37 °C in July and August, and the sea ranges from about 21 °C in February and March to 28 °C in August.

Arrival, step by step

Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi before you fly, and keep the line switched off. After landing, turn off airplane mode, switch the eSIM line on, choose it for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that line only. Give the phone a minute to find the network.
