Roaming or an eSIM in Egypt: what changes
Roaming keeps your home line working in Egypt at your carrier's rates. A prepaid eSIM gives you a separate data line at a fixed price.
- Prepaid, fixed price
- Data roaming on for the eSIM
- Home line stays on
The short answer
Roaming on your home line charges your carrier's rates in Egypt. The eSIM on this site is prepaid: you pay once, it roams on an Egyptian partner network, and it cannot add charges. Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line only, and keep it off on your home line.

On the eSIM line: turn the line on, choose it for mobile data, and turn data roaming on. On your home line: keep data roaming off, so it cannot run up charges, and keep the line on for calls and texts if you want them. Calls and texts that reach your home number are billed by your home carrier.

Why does the eSIM need data roaming turned on?
Because it is an Africa regional plan: in Egypt it connects to a partner network as a visitor. The plan is prepaid, so this cannot add charges to it.
