Switch your Egypt eSIM on when you land

  • Line on
  • Mobile data on the eSIM
  • Data roaming on

The short answer

After landing, turn the eSIM line on and choose it for mobile data. These plans roam on an Egyptian partner network, so turn on data roaming for the eSIM line too. Keep data roaming off on your home line, so it cannot run up charges.

On the eSIM line

Turn the line on, choose it for mobile data (on an iPhone, Cellular Data), and turn on data roaming for it. The plan is prepaid, so roaming cannot add charges to it. Turn off switching mobile data between lines, so the phone never falls back to your home line for data.

On your home line

Turn off data roaming on your usual SIM. You can keep the line on for calls and texts to your number; those are charged by your home carrier.

Give it a minute

The phone may take a few minutes to find the network. The signal bars and the partner network’s name appear next to the eSIM line.

If it fails

Work through not connecting, in order. Install within 30 days of buying; if your trip starts later than that, write to the store’s support before installing.
