Egypt visa: the e-visa, the visa on arrival and the Sinai stamp
What the UK's travel advice says about Egypt's visa, for British travellers. Other nationalities: check your own government's advice.

The short answer
For British travellers, the UK's advice lists three ways in: an e-visa bought online, valid for up to three months; a visa on arrival from airport kiosks for 30 US dollars in cash, valid for up to 30 days; and, for stays under 15 days at the South Sinai resorts arriving at Sharm El Sheikh, no visa at all.
- E-visa: online in advance, valid for up to 3 months.
- Visa on arrival: 30 US dollars, cash only, at kiosks before immigration.
- Sinai stamp: no visa for under 15 days at Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba.
- Passport: valid 6 months after arrival, with a blank page.

Cairo from August 2026
The UK's advice says Cairo airport also sells digital visas from 1 August 2026, for 36 US dollars including a 6 dollar fee, paid by card.

You can bring up to 5,000 Egyptian pounds into or out of Egypt, and must declare foreign currency worth more than 10,000 US dollars.
Devices
The UK's advice says to declare high value electronic devices and recording equipment when you arrive.
