The short answer

Egypt is dry and sunny most of the year. Cairo's average highs run from 19 °C in January to 35 °C in summer, Luxor's from 23 °C to 41 °C, and Alexandria's from 18 °C to 31 °C. Only Alexandria gets real rain, about 212 mm a year.

  • Cairo: 19 °C in January, 35 °C from June to August, 25 mm of rain a year.
  • Luxor: 23 °C in January, 41 °C from June to August, 8 mm a year.
  • Alexandria: 18 °C in January, 31 °C in August, 212 mm a year.
